As I've mentioned on a previous post, my family and I have made it a tradition to eat at different restaurants every Sunday. This Sunday we ate at
Ihawan2 where they offered Filipino and Japanese food. They had amazing traditional Filipino food and sushi, which was a big plus for me considering I'm a big sushi fan. I was surprise at the wide range of sushi they had on the menu. They had chef's special rolls and traditional sushi rolls. I ordered the
Vernon Boulevard and it was delicious. The Filipino food was also delicious! If you love fried food, meat, and not necessarily health conscious you'll love their Filipino food (Filipino food is a fusion of food from many different cultures so there will always be recognizable flavors and ingredients). From BBQs to seafood, everything is better than any other Filipino restaurant I've been to. It is definitely a place to check out.
Ihawan Sampler (Lechon Kawali, Calamares, Lumpiang Shanghai)
Fried Boneless Bangus (deep fried marinated whole milkfish)
They are very generous with their appetizers. The
Ihawan Sampler can easily be shared by a group of five people. The
Lumpiang Shanghai (spring roll filled with usually beef or pork or both) was my favorite, it's full of flavor. And although many of the food is fried none of them are greasy.
Vernon Boulevard (salmon, cucumber with tuna and salmon on top)
Ihawan2 is located in Hunters Point, Long Island City, "the westernmost neighborhood" of Queens in New York City. If you're ever around, be sure to drop by! Right when you walk in Ihawan2, you'll immediately be impressed by the modern atmosphere and the friendly waiters.
